The Vitamix E320 is perfect for…

  • Bigger households or those who like to meal prep – Since the E320 comes with a larger container and slightly more power, we’d probably recommend this device to families with lots of mouths to feed.
  • Small batches – The E320’s wider base + bigger blades makes it the most versatile for portions. The design makes it great for making smaller batches of food and for smoothies with less liquid.
  • Those shopping on a budget – If you’d like to enjoy the Vitamix experience without paying top dollar, the E320 is the best option for you.

The Vitamix V1200 is perfect for…

  • High tech – I knew the vitamix V1200 was advertised as the high tech option. I didn’t realize all that they built into this blender with the bluetooth and app functionality. If you like “smart” products, you’ll love using this.
  • People in a hurry – The programmable settings make this one great for people in a hurry! You can program the Vitamix to save time.
  • Small batches – The V1200 comes with a smaller container that is perfect for smaller portions.

At the end of the day, the two blenders have been designed to cater to the same general market. You’re not going to miss out on any major features by choosing one of the models over another.

The main difference between the Vitamix E320 and V1200

The main differences between the Vitamix E320 and V1200 is the high tech functionality of the V1200. The V1200 comes with bluetooth connectivity and programmable settings with an app that you download. The V1200 also comes with an additional blender container meant for smaller batches.

These functions make the V1200 more expensive than the Vitamix E320. The E320 has a longer warranty, which is a huge plus with an expensive purchase like this.

Both of these blenders are on our list of the best Vitamix blenders!

Quick Review Of The Vitamix E320

The Vitamix E320 was first introduced in 2017 as part of the Explorian series. This blender, alongside the E310, is marketed as a budget-friendly alternative to some of Vitamix’s preceding models.

Despite being sold for a reduced price, the Vitamix E320 comes with high-end features such as a 2.2 horsepower motor, which is extremely powerful for an entry-level blender. Other beneficial features of this product include its 64 oz capacity classic container. Although not the biggest, this is pretty sizable relative to other compact blenders on the market.

Somewhat of a technological step back from Vitamix’s previous Ascent series, which featured touch screen controls, the Vitamix E320 features a simple button control panel. This 3-button setup arguably makes the E320 simpler to use than some of its more advanced predecessors and definitely easier to master the perfect blend.

A highlight of these physical buttons is the pulse feature, which can be easily pressed as little or as much as is required. So this Vitamix is perfect for grinding coffee beans! There are 10 different speeds available, which can be changed depending on the type of food you are blending. Changing the speed can also speed up the rate at which the food is prepared, with the top speed producing a perfect blend in minutes.

The main drawbacks of the Vitamix E320 are that there is no automatic option and that it can be quite noisy at times.

Pros:

  • Power – This is a much more powerful motor than some of the other blenders in the Vitamix range and ensures efficiency.
  • Easy to clean – All you’re required to do is fill it with warm, soapy water (dish soap will do) to the halfway point and put the lid back on. Next, turn the machine up to its highest setting, and let it run for around 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • 7-year warranty period – When you buy an E320 from Vitamix, your purchase is protected by a 7-year warranty. This gives you peace of mind, guaranteeing a repair or replacement in the event of a technical fault.
  • Easy storage – This compact model can easily be kept in the cupboard beside other kitchen appliances.
  • Pulse feature – The pulse feature makes blending chunky food a breeze. It also allows you to experiment with different textures.
  • More affordable – This Vitamix blender is meant to perform just as well as the company’s other products, except for a fraction of the price.
  • Durable blender – Although cheaper than some models, the E320 is made using the same materials and is just as durable.
  • Long blades – The stainless steel blades found inside the Vitamix E320 are 4 inches in length, allowing them to make broader contact with the food. This blade length also creates hot friction, which is great when making hot soups.

Cons:

  • Lack of variety – The Vitamix E320 is only available in two colors.
  • Can be noisy – The E320 doesn’t have the most effective noise dampening technology. This means that, depending on what you’re blending, the E320 can get as loud as 100 decibels.
  • There’s no automatic blending option – You’ve got to control the blender manually at all times. There is no option to leave it on an automatic blend setting.
  • Bulkier model – The E320 has a 64-ounce container that may prove burdensome for smaller kitchens. Weighing in at 13 pounds, it’s also quite heavy – which is certainly something to bear in mind before purchasing.

Quick Review Of The Vitamix V1200

In the kitchen, versatility is key, especially if you want to make a range of recipes such soups, smoothies, margaritas, and more. Thankfully, the Vitamix V1200 features a range of blending settings, letting you quickly choose the one you need.

One of the first features you will notice is the digital timing function. This lets you select the ideal blending time for your frozen fruit, soups, or other recipes.

The variable speed settings and pulse features are also handy bonus features, offering you a way to blend your dishes to the right consistency.

This does mean that the Vitamix V1200 isn’t quite as beginner-friendly as some other blenders because the additional settings can be overwhelming.

If you are struggling with the versatility this blender provides, then consider trialing the auto-detect feature. This will automatically pick the ideal settings depending on the weight of the blender jar, so you don’t need to spend hours getting to grips with your new blender.

It can be slightly overwhelming for beginners, but once you have learned the ins and outs of each function, this is an excellent blending gadget!

Key Differences Between the Vitamix E320 and V1200 Blenders

In this section I’ll look at the key differences between the Vitamix E320 and V1200. We’ve identified the most important criteria to compare: power, price, capacity, features/controls, the warranty, and overall performance.

Power

At the end of the day, the most important characteristic of a blender is power. A blender needs to blend without destroying fruit fiber.

These blenders are identical in terms of power. Both of their motors come with 2.2 horsepower or 1440 watts.

Both the E320 and V1200 are great for virtually any food, raw or frozen, such as making nut butter, smoothies, hot soups, crushing ice, and even grinding coffee beans.

Features / Controls

When it comes to features, the Vitamix V1200 is the winner, hands down.

The E320 is your standard Vitamix blender. Speed dial from 1-10 with a pulse switch to blitz stuff to give it texture.

The V1200 comes with a bunch of high tech functionality:

  • Smartphone app – There is an App from Vitamix that is used with these smart blenders like Ascent series. The Vitamix Perfect blend syncs with Vitamix Venturist V1200 wirelessly to send presets to the blender.
  • Built in wireless connectivity – This blender has built-in wireless connectivity that allows the self to detect container to adjust according to the type of container.
  • Digital timer – You can set a timer on your Vitamix itself instead of having to pull out your phone.
  • Presets – The presets provide automatic modes to blend different recipes in a timed cycle and provide a consistent outcome. You can enjoy 17 blending programs unlike the typical 5 programs in other Vitamix series.

If you want to go high-tech, go with the V1200. Just know you’re paying about 25% extra for it. Some people think Vitamix is so expensive compared to other blenders, and it is… but we explain why it’s worth it.

The Vitamix E320 is part of the Explorian series, while the V1200 is part of the Venturist/Ascent series. Check out our guide on the Explorian vs Ascent Vitamix Blenders

Size / Capacity of Container

The standard container for the Vitamix E320 and V1200 is the 64oz container by Vitamix.

Both containers:

  • Are safety pitchers, meaning they are completely shatter-resistant to both heat and dropping.
  • Provide full transparency to see the blending progress.
  • Come with tampers designed to work precisely with each container.

Neither pitcher is made from glass. Both the E310 and E320 containers are polycarbonate pitchers made from premium quality Eastman Tritan Copolyester.

The E320 comes with a 64 ounce container that’s lower profile (shorter) and a 4-inch blending diameter.

The V1200 also comes with a 64 ounce lower-profile container with an additional 20 ounce self-detect container.

The lids for both models are made of rubber and require pushing on or pulling off. Both lids are held on with rubber tabs that securely grab the edge of the pitcher. The E320 and V1200 lids have a feed-through hole in them for either adding ingredients or using the tamper. Also, the drive mechanisms in both pitchers are crafted from the same quality of steel as the blades.

As an additional accessory option, Vitamix also makes stainless steel containers that are odor-resistant, stain-resistant, and non-reactive and work with all full-sized models. The stainless steel pitchers come with transparent lids but are only available in the 48-ounce size. If you want to know other Vitamix containers that would fit the E320 or V1200, check this out.

Warranty

The V1200 only has a 5 year warranty while the E320 comes with a 7 year.

The V1200 is much more high tech so it makes sense that it would have a slightly shorter warranty period.

Performance

The one thing you can always count on with Vitamix is performance, and these two blenders are no different.

While Vitamix creates different models with various features and technology, the one thing all Vitamix models have in common is that they outperform other brands on the market.

If we had to pick between these, we would probably go with the Vitamix V1200 if you love high tech or smart products. If not, the E320 is just as good of a blender at about 25% cheaper.

Final Verdict: Should You Buy a Vitamix E320 or V1200?

You can’t go wrong buying either of these great blenders.

All Vitamix blenders are high quality and perform well. The question really is just which one is right for what you need

The Vitamix E320 and V1200 blenders are both great blenders and classic models that demonstrate what made Vitamix a leader in the industry.

  • Vitamix E320The E320 is the best pick if you’re budget minded and just want to use a blender the old fashioned way: drop your stuff in and blend.
  • Vitamix V1200The V1200 is great if you love smart products and want to use an app or bluetooth to save time and use programmable settings.

I hope our Vitamix E320 vs V1200 showdown helped you pick the right blender for you!
