Vitamix V1200

Quick Summary: Vitamix V1200 Review

In the kitchen, versatility is key, especially if you want to make a range of recipes such soups, smoothies, margaritas, and more. Thankfully, the Vitamix V1200 features a range of blending settings, letting you quickly choose the one you need. Whether you’re grinding coffee beans or using your Vitamix as a food processor, the V1200 can do it all.

One of the first features you will notice is the digital timing function. This lets you select the ideal blending time for your frozen fruit, soups, or other recipes.

The variable speed settings and pulse features are also handy bonus features, offering you a way to blend your dishes to the right consistency.

This does mean that the Vitamix V1200 isn’t quite as beginner-friendly as some other blenders because the additional settings can be overwhelming.

If you are struggling with the versatility this blender provides, then consider trialing the auto-detect feature. This will automatically pick the ideal settings depending on the weight of the blender jar, so you don’t need to spend hours getting to grips with your new blender.

It can be slightly overwhelming for beginners, but once you have learned the ins and outs of each function, this is an excellent blending gadget!

Things We Learned After Testing the Vitamix V1200

We recently tested the Vitamix V1200 and identified a number of key things to know. These are the kinds of insights you won’t read on the manufacturer’s box.

  1. Seriously high tech – I knew the Vitamix V1200 was advertised as the high tech option. I didn’t realize all that they built into this blender with the bluetooth and app functionality. If you like “smart” products, you’ll love using this. If you don’t, then you’re probably overpaying for functions you don’t need.
  2. Cookbook is helpful – We aren’t new to making smoothies, but the cookbook is actually quite helpful! It gives tips on what order to place your food into the blender so that it works most effectively.
  3. Removable base is great – The V1200 comes with a removable rubber cover that goes on top of the base. This makes it super easy to clean the blender. All you have to do is peel the rubber off and rinse it in the sink.
  4. Personal cup is a bit tricky – The V1200 comes with a smaller container that can be used to make more personal sized smoothies. This is a great idea and it works well! The only issue is sometimes getting the V1200 to “recognize” the cup is difficult. You may need to tighten the blades to get it to work.
  5. Cup container is too tall – The 64oz container that it comes with is tall, which is great for making a large batch. The downside is that you may have to use the tamper a bit more to push the food down to get blended.
  6. Hard to fit – The 64oz container comes taller than many of the current Vitamix blenders. It’s also larger than the average kitchen cabinet.

As you can see, the Vitamix V1200 is on par with other Vitamix blenders in terms of power, capacity, and price. The biggest advantage is the tech stack that comes built in.

This is what sets the V1200 apart from other Vitamix options. It was the first blender in the Vitamix Ascent series, which includes their self-detection technology.

It’s no longer being made by Vitamix, but it’s available “certified refurbished” on Amazon.

Deep Dive: Is the Vitamix V1200 Worth Buying?

Even though this isn’t Vitamix’s newest blender, it comes fully loaded with many of the same features. I’ll walk through the highlights of the different features and components of the Vitamix V1200.

Aesthetics

Looking at the Vitamix V1200, it has some elements of the ascent series like the base. It combines both G-series and ascent series design. The knobs and switches resemble that of the G-series.

Motor Power

This model comes with a 2.2 peak horsepower motor that provides enough power to crush and blend ingredients efficiently. It can crush raw ingredients like nuts and whole fruits to turn them into a smooth texture of smoothies. If you’re curious how many watts are needed for a good blender, we have the answer for you.

The Vitamix power combined with other quality features is the reason people like buying them even if they come at a higher price tag. This blender outperforms other blenders from other brands with the ability to function as a multipurpose appliance.

The power in this Vitamix makes it one of the best blenders for smoothie bowls

Containers

Vitamix V1200 base is capable of detecting the smart container placed on it just like the ascent series blenders. The Self Detect containers automatically update functions according to the size and type of container in use.

The blender comes with a 64-ounce low-profile container and a 20-ounce self detects container for small-batch blending.

Two small issues:

  1. If you have old versions of Vitamix containers, then they are not compatible with this smart blender.
  2. The blender container is tall and may not fit in your cabinets!

Vitamix self detect containers are available if you may need to expand your blending tasks. They have the 8 oz bowl. 20 oz blending cup, 48 oz dry and wet container, and the 64oz wet container. To help you out, we created a list of all the Vitamix containers and the blenders they’re compatible with.

Controls

Variable Speed Control

The control panel consists of manual controls which include a switch, a pulse, a 10-speed dial, and a digital timer. Using the variable speed control lets you take control of the blending process to fine-tune the texture.

Pulse

You can blend smooth purees to chunky salsas and other textures as needed. The pulse also helps to create different textures either thick or light layer coarse.

This is a great way to make sure you’re not overtaxing the motor.

Digital Timer

On the panel, a digital timer helps count the blending time and prevent over-processing of the smoothies or purees. You can achieve the same consistent texture of the blends.

Wireless Connection (Self-Detect)

The blender doesn’t have the presets on the panel because it’s meant to be connected with the Vitamix Blend App for the automatic blending of recipes.

Smartphone App: There is an App from Vitamix that is used with these smart blenders like Ascent series. The Vitamix Perfect blend syncs with Vitamix Venturist V1200 wirelessly to send presets to the blender.

The presets provide automatic modes to blend different recipes in a timed cycle and provide a consistent outcome. If you are not sure of the blending time and processes of different recipes, the blender will be your guide.

It is intelligent enough to detect which type of container placed and display the specific presets for the jar. With this app, you can enjoy 17 blending programs unlike the typical 5 programs in other Vitamix series.

Most people nowadays use a smartphone and therefore, using the Vitamix perfect blend app cant be a big challenge.

Built-in Wireless Connectivity

This blender has built-in wireless connectivity that allows the self to detect container to adjust according to the type of container. Also, it allows the connectivity with the smartphone to use the Vitamix Perfect blend App.

Performance

Just like other Vitamix high-end blenders, the Vitamix Venturist V1200 provides high performance while maintaining the efficiency of the blends.

It can blend a variety of ingredients to make different meals. The stainless steel blades are laser cut designed to last without dulling or bending that ensures long-lasting performance.

You can prepare hot soup within 6 minutes. Also, the list to make with a Vitamix blender is endless from smoothies & juices, desserts, frozen treats, grinding nuts, dips & spreads, mix batters & dough, baby food, etc.

Noise

Powerful blenders are not that quiet but the performance is worth the noise.

With no container, it has 83 to 85 decibels while with ingredients it has 86 to 90 decibels. Vitamix A 3500 is quieter with between 77 to 78 without the container while with ingredients, it produces 84 to 87 decibels. Vitamix Venturist V1200 vs Vitamix Ascent Series

I’ll do a quick breakdown of how the V1200 compares to other Ascent series blenders that have replaced it.

Vitamix 1200 vs A2300

The main difference between the two blenders is the timer. Vitamix 1200 has a settable countdown timer while the Vitamix A2300 doesn’t have a timer.

V1200 vs A2500

A settable countdown timer in the Vitamix 1200 makes it slightly different from Vitamix A2500. The A2500 comes with 3 pre-programmed settings while the V1200 doesn’t have the presets on the control panel.

You can use presets in the V1200 using the App connected through a smartphone using a wireless connection.

Vitamix 1200 vs A3300

In these two blenders, the A3300 blender has a flat touch interface without physical knobs and push-buttons. In the Vitamix 1200, the interface consists of raised dome buttons. The capacitive buttons on the flat touch screen on the Vitamix A3300 make it look sleeker and premium. Both have digital timers.

V1200 vs A3500

Vitamix A3500 blender comes with additional 5 pre-programmed settings, unlike the V1200 blender. The other differences are the same as in the Vitamix A3300.

V1200 vs E320

The V1200 is higher performing than the E320. Read the full comparison between V1200 vs E320.
