Quick Summary: Vitamix Propel 510 Review

The Vitamix Propel 510 is one of the newest blenders by the blender brand juggernaut. They recently released the Propel 510 and 750 which are some of their best work to date. We own both of these and they are our new favorites!

What no other “blender blogger” can tell you…

My wife and I have owned 5 Vitamix blenders (5200, E310, A3500, 510, and 750). The E310 is great and simple to use, but the plastic feels a bit cheap to be honest. The A3500 is elite, but the programmable settings are a bit too intense. It’s less user friendly.

The Propel 510 is the perfect blend. It’s got the programmable settings of the 3500 and the simplicity of the E310.

That’s why the Propel 510 is one of the best Vitamix blenders on the market.

The Vitamix Propel 510 is incredibly powerful, holds 48oz, and is reasonably priced compared to most of their blenders. It’s dishwasher safe and has a 5 year long warranty!

The 510 is powerful enough to handle any blending task you can imagine. We tested it for green smoothies, protein shakes, ice, and frozen fruit and it worked wonders. It’s powerful enough to blend anything you could want.

It’s also strong enough to blend soup or make curries! All you need to do is add all your ingredients to the blender container and run it on high speed for 5 minutes. The heat generated from the engine is enough to make the soup hot!

One little known fact about Vitamix containers is that they are perfectly engineered to have a vortex at the bottom. Most other blenders like NutriBullet or Ninja blades will shoot ingredients up towards the top of the container. Vitamix blenders perfectly suction ingredients down towards the blades. This results in smoother smoothies than any other brand.

Cons

  • Expensive – The 510 isn’t the most expensive Vitamix, but it’s still going to run $400-500. Not affordable for a lot of people.
  • Shorter warranty – The 5 year warranty is fantastic compared to any other blender brand, but it’s shorter than other Vitamix blenders.

Things We Learned After Testing the Vitamix Propel 510

We recently tested the Vitamix Propel 510 and identified a number of key things to know. These are the kinds of insights you won’t read on the manufacturer’s box.

  1. You must ramp the speed up – The Vitamix 510 comes with a speed dial that you can turn from 1-10. The key to great blending is to start slow and then ramp up the speed. If you start out at full speed, it won’t work well and might splatter all over your kitchen or the blades will get stuck.
  2. Great for small batches – The 48oz container is perfect if you’re making small-medium sized batches of smoothies or shakes.
  3. Loud – I won’t lie. The Vitamix 510 is loud. It’s louder than NutriBullet’s, but that’s because it’s more powerful. If you want a quieter Vitamix, check out our Vitamix Quiet One review.
  4. Hard to fit – This container is 17.5in tall so it can be harder to store in cabinets. You’ll probably need to store it in your pantry. Make sure to measure your cabinets if you want to store it easily.

How Does the Propel 510 Compare to Other Vitamix Blenders?

The Vitamix 510 might be the newest Vitamix blender on the block, but it’s one of their best. It’s got the programmable settings like the Vitamix Ascent series, the size of the E310, and right in the middle on the price point.

The Vitamix Propel 510 is perfect for…

  • People on a “budget” – The 510 is cheaper than most other Vitamix models.
  • Smaller families or individuals – The 48oz container is the perfect size for smaller families or individuals. The 64oz is a bit too big if you’re just making smoothies for yourself.

Deep Dive: Is the Vitamix Propel 510 Worth Buying?

The Vitamix 510 comes stacked with all of advantages of the Vitamix brand. I’ll walk through the highlights of the different features and components of this blender.

Power

The Vitamix 510 comes with a 2 HP motor (1400 watts) that is more than enough watts to be a good blender.

This makes it more powerful than almost every Ninja and NutriBullet blender. It’s on par with other Vitamix blenders. The typical Vitamix wattage is either 2 or 2.2 HP. No matter what you want to blend, the Vitamix 510 is powerful enough.

Price

Vitamix blenders aren’t the cheapest, but you probably already know that. Compared to other models though, this one is more affordable. Most of the Ascent series blenders are over $500. The only one cheaper is the Vitamix E310 which isn’t as good in our opinion.

Vitamix blenders are expensive because they’re the highest quality. The last so much longer though. We had a NutriBullet blender but it only lasted about 18 months of regular use. We’ve had our first Vitamix for almost 8 years. Vitamix blenders are made in the USA which is another reason why Vitamix blenders are worth it.

Buy cheap and you’ll end up buying twice. Get a Vitamix from day one.

Features / Controls

Vitamix Propel 510 base

The Vitamix 510 is the perfect blend of features. It has the simplicity of the older Vitamix models with the programmability of the Ascent series. This blender has three program settings: smoothies, hot soup, and frozen dessert.

If you’re making one of those, simply put in your ingredients and press the button.

If you don’t want to use the automation, then you can use the speed dial, on-off switch, or the blender’s pulse function.

The 510 is super versatile so you can use your Vitamix as a food processor. You can even use a Vitamix to grind coffee if you want to make your own coffee at home.

Aesthetics / Size

The overall design of the Vitamix 510 isn’t anything particularly unique compared to other models.

The container is 48oz which is a great size. It’s big enough to make smoothies for the whole fam, but small enough that you can still make individual sized servings. The 64oz Vitamix containers are a bit too big to make single servings.

The biggest difference is the height. It’s 17.5 inches which is taller than most other Vitamix blenders. Even though it’s taller, it’s actually lighter than other models like the Vitamix E310 and A3500.

The height can be an issue for many cabinets though! You may have to store it in a larger cabinet or on your counter. Thankfully this isn’t a big deal because it doesn’t take up too much countertop space.

Cleaning

One of our favorite features of the Vitamix 510 is the self cleaning ability. It makes cleaning up 10x easier.

All you have to do is put a squirt of dish soap in the blender with a few inches of water. Blend it on high for 30-60 seconds and it’ll be spotless.

The good news is that Vitamix blenders are dishwasher safe as well!

Conclusion: Should You Buy The Vitamix Propel 510?

We can’t recommend the Vitamix Propel 510 enough! It’s our new favorite Vitamix. If you want an incredibly durable blender, this is the one for you. The power, versatility, and quality are the perfect trifecta for a fantastic blender.

Whatever you want to make, this blender will get it done.

If you want a cheaper alternative, check out the Vitamix E310.

I hope our Vitamix Propel 510 review was able to help you with your blender-buying decision!
