The Vitamix 5300 is one of the flagship blenders and it’s been one of their top-performing blenders for a long-time. It’s one of their legacy blenders, which means they have come out with newer offerings in the Explorian or Ascent series of blenders.
But this is one of their best blenders of all time so they’ve continued to produce it.
We’re going to do a deep dive Vitamix 5300 review so that you can know everything you need to know.

Quick Summary: Vitamix 5300 Review
The Vitamix 5300 is one of the powerhouse blenders by Vitamix. It’s strong enough to handle any of your blending needs from frozen fruit smoothies and margaritas to baby food and soup.
Its powerful high-performance motor can make short work of any veg you throw its way, especially once they have been boiled with stock. The pulse function found on the Vitamix 5300 offers you a simple way to make chunkier soups, perfect for cozy nights in.
Hidden inside the base of this blender is a powerful motor that propels the blades with incredible force. However, during our testing, we quickly realized how loud this classic Vitamix machine can get, even on medium settings.
Luckily, its array of useful features, such as a 64-ounce blender container and the multiple speed options, more than makes up for this. It even comes with a 7-year warranty, which you can find included alongside most Vitamix blenders. The combination of power, durability, and price make this one of the best Vitamix blenders you can buy today.
Whether you plan on opening a soup kitchen or you just want a reliable blender for your home kitchen, this is the one for you!
- Efficient cutting power – Thanks to the use of high-quality stainless steel, this blender can slide through almost anything.
- 7-year warranty – You can be sure that this impressive blender will last you for years to come.
- Large quantity container – The 64-ounce container included with this blender offers enough space for large amounts of soup.
- Can be loud – Due to the powerful motor inside, this Vitamix immersion blender can get loud on higher settings.
- Not suited for small smoothies – The immense power and large container means it may be inefficient to use this for smaller recipes.
Things We Learned After Testing The Vitamix 5300
We recently tested the Vitamix 5300 and identified a number of key things to know. These are the kinds of insights you won’t read on the manufacturer’s box.
- Not great for small batches – One of the unexpected cons of Vitamixes is that they perform better with more food/liquid. For the Vitamix 5300, you’ll want to make at least 24-32oz or else it won’t work well.
- Hard to fit – The Vitamix 5300 container is just barely above 17 inches which is the standard shelf height of cabinets.
- It moves – This blender is high speed and doesn’t have some of the modern tech of the newer blenders. This means that it sometimes will inch across your counter if you aren’t holding it in place.
- Clean right away – The self cleaning function of the Vitamix works incredibly well, but only if you do it right when you’re done blending. If you wait too long the food will have time to harden and get stuck.
- Container gets cloudy – One downside is that the plastic container gets cloudy over time. Even if you’re quick to wash and dry the container, it can get a bit hard to read the measurements.
How Does The 5300 Compare To Other Vitamixes?
|Vitamix “The Quiet One”
As you can see, the Vitamix 5300 has one of the best mixes of power, capacity and price.
This is the only blender with 2.2 HP that was in the lowest priced tier. All of the other 2.2 HPs + 64oz blenders were in the $400-600 range.
The Vitamix 5300 is the cheapest Vitamix blender that comes with the standard power and capacity.
The main difference between the Vitamix 5300 and 5200 is the power. The 5200 is slightly older and less powerful.

Deep Dive: Is The Vitamix 5300 Worth Buying?
The Vitamix 5300 comes fully loaded with all of the awesome Vitamix features and quality. I’ll walk through the highlights of the different features and components of this blender.
This model comes with a 2.2 peak horsepower motor that provides enough power to crush and blend ingredients efficiently. It can crush raw ingredients like nuts and whole fruits to turn them into a smooth texture of smoothies.
The Vitamix power combined with other quality features is the reason people like buying them even if they come at a higher price tag. This blender outperforms other blenders from other brands with the ability to function as a multipurpose appliance.
As we have already discussed above, Vitamix blenders are not the cheapest on the market. They are certainly more of an investment rather than an off the cuff purchase.
Even though they are on the higher end of the market, this is certainly justified when you look at the overall quality of the mixer. The price of the Vitamix 5300 is certainly worth it if you want a top of the line blender.

Features / Controls
The controls on the Vitamix is super easy to use. It features a power switch, a pulse switch, and a speed knob. The pulse feature allows you to create the type of consistency you need. While the majority of blending needs to be smooth.
The different speed settings allow you to choose between chopping, pureeing, and grinding, and different blender attachments also allow for whipping and emulsifying.
If you are creating a salsa, for example, you may still require a thicker or chunkier texture. The pulse feature allows you to do this. Instead of providing consistent power, it will provide power in short bursts when turned on, giving you control of how the food is blended.
Aesthetics & Size
When looking at the overall design of the Vitamix 5300, it is fairly simple, yet effective. It is available to purchase in 2 different colors – black, and red. Given this, the mixer will match the majority of kitchen decors.
It is not overly big, and its dimensions are 7.25 x8x75 x 17.25 inches. Weighing only 12 pounds, it is fairly easy to transport.
The height can be an issue for many cabinets though! You may have to store it in a larger cabinet or on your counter. Thankfully this isn’t a big deal because it doesn’t take up too much countertop space. Many cabinets measure at 17inches and the extra quarter inch on this blender might make it just barely too tall.
The Vitamix 5300 holds 64 oz which is plenty of space to make just about anything you could possibly need!

To clean the Vitamix 5300 add a few drops of dish soap to the blender and fill with a few inches of water. Blend it on its highest setting for 60 seconds and it’ll be totally cleaned!
The key is to clean it right away before any food or liquid hardens on the side.
