Tips for Making Kale Smoothies
We’ve made a hundreds of smoothies with kale over the years! My wife and I have the experience to help you make the best kale smoothies possible. Here are some of our top tips for you that we’ve picked up along the way!
- Soak your kale – I recommend soaking your kale in water to soften it up before blending in your smoothie. Put it in a big bowl for 30-60 minutes and submerge your kale in water.
- Add ingredients that balance – Kale is bitter and can make smoothies a bit runny or foamy. Fruits like bananas, avocado, and mango can help offset the kale in a smoothie!
- Use milk – I highly recommend using some kind of milk as your smoothie liquid! This is the best way to make creamier smoothies! I personally like using oat milk or almond milk for kale smoothies because the nutty and slightly sweet flavor can hep.
- Use a high powered blender – Using a strong blender is essential to making great kale smoothies! You want a blender that can really grind up the kale. A weaker blender will end up with chunks and stringy bits of kale.
Kale is a great ingredient for fiber as well which is why a couple of these recipes are also on our list of high fiber smoothie recipes!
